This skill set is designed for workers in accounting and bookkeeping job roles who use knowledge of accounting principles to perform a range of analytical tasks in a variety of industries. This Skill Set reflects the roles of workers who perform complex tasks in a variety of industries.
Individuals in these roles apply solutions to a range of often complex problems and analyse and evaluate information from a variety of sources, including relevant legislation and taxation systems. They apply initiative to plan, coordinate and evaluate their own work and provide guidance to others within defined guidelines.

On successful completion of this course, you will gain a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment from My CPE Pty Ltd (RTO ID 45717) and earn 14 CPE hours.

The units of competency in this skill set provide credits toward FNS40222 – Certificate IV in Accounting and Bookkeeping qualification and others that allow for the selection of these units.
Individuals must have completed the units of competency (or equivalent) that are marked with an asterisk (*) prior to enrolling in the FNS50217 – Diploma of Accounting qualification.

There are no formal requirements applicable to enrolling in the course. Applicants must; however, demonstrate they meet the requirements listed below:
- At least 18 years of age at the time of enrolment
- Access to a computer and internet connection
- Good language, literacy & numeracy skills.
A Certificate IV level program with the following learning outcomes:
Breadth, depth and complexity of knowledge and competencies would cover a broad range of varied activities or applications in a wider variety of contexts, most of which are complex and non-routine. Participants should display leadership and guidance when organising activities of self and others as well as contributing to technical solutions of a non-routine or contingency nature.
Performance of a broad range of skilled applications, including the requirement to evaluate and analyse current practices, develop new criteria and procedures for performing current practices and provision of some leadership and guidance to others in the application and planning of the skills. Applications involve responsibility for, and limited organisation of, others.
Competencies should enable participants with this qualification to:
- Demonstrate understanding of a broad knowledge base incorporating some theoretical concepts
- Apply solutions to a defined range of unpredictable problems
- Identify and apply skill and knowledge areas to a wide variety of contexts, with depth in some areas
- Identify, analyse and evaluate information from a variety of sources
- Take responsibility for own outputs in relation to specified quality standards
- Take limited responsibility for the quantity & quality of the output of others.
The units of competency in this Skill Set provide credits toward FNS40222 Certificate IV in Accounting and Bookkeeping qualification and others that allow for the selection of the units within this Skill Set.
Prior to commencing the FNS50217 Diploma of Accounting qualification, an individual must have completed the following units of competency (or equivalent), which are included in this Skill Set:
- FNSACC321 Process financial transactions and extract interim reports
- FNSACC322 Administer subsidiary accounts and ledgers
- FNSACC418 Work effectively in the accounting and bookkeeping industry
- FNSACC421 Prepare financial reports (this unit is the equivalent version of BSBFIA401 Prepare financial reports)
RPL is the process of recognising the experience and skills that a person has acquired throughout their career. RPL is accelerated assessment, or assessment only. The principles of RPL will be applied at all stages of your learning / assessment. If existing competence is evident, it will be recognised and recorded to expedite the completion of your program.
You will be provided an opportunity to request RPL during the first stage of the program; however, RPL can be requested at any stage.
Self-paced online study offers complete flexibility affording students the ability to study anytime and anywhere that suits their schedule. There are no requirements to attend any classes during a self-paced program.
Our instructor-led program is also delivered online and supported by regular sessions held in a virtual classroom environment. Whilst it is not mandatory to attend any classes during this program, instructor-led sessions are a valuable resource that will support your learning.
