This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to prepare and document operational budgets for a variety of organisations. It applies to individuals who use specialised knowledge and systematic approaches to undertake strategic financial activity for an organisation.
You will develop skills to create both strategic and operational plans, which are required for functional budgets, as well as the skills and knowledge to prepare and document operational budgets for a variety of organisations:

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to prepare and document operational budgets for a variety of organisations. It applies to individuals who use specialised knowledge and systematic approaches to undertake strategic financial planning and activities for an organisation.
To successfully complete this unit, you must be able to effectively prepare budgets, set budget time-frames, document budgets, and manage tasks and reasonably foreseeable contingencies in the context of the work role:
- Key principles of budgetary control
- Range of forecasting techniques used when preparing operational budgets
- Key principles of statistical analysis and measures of variance in the context of financial data analysis and operational budgets
- Key features of organisational policies and procedures for financial administration as they relate to budgeting.
On successful completion of this course, you will gain a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment from My CPE Pty Ltd (RTO ID 45717) and earn 8 CPE hours.

A Certificate IV level program with the following learning outcomes:
Breadth, depth and complexity of knowledge and competencies would cover a broad range of varied activities or applications in a wider variety of contexts, most of which are complex and non-routine. Participants should display leadership and guidance when organising activities of self and others as well as contributing to technical solutions of a non-routine or contingency nature.
Performance of a broad range of skilled applications, including the requirement to evaluate and analyse current practices, develop new criteria and procedures for performing current practices and provision of some leadership and guidance to others in the application and planning of the skills. Applications involve responsibility for and limited organisation of others.
Competencies should enable participant’s with this qualification to:
- Demonstrate understanding of a broad knowledge base incorporating some theoretical concepts
- Apply solutions to a defined range of unpredictable problems
- Identify and apply skill and knowledge areas to a wide variety of contexts, with depth in some areas

You will be provided an opportunity to request RPL during your interview with your Assessor; however, RPL can be requested at any stage.

This unit is designed to meet the education requirements of the Tax Practitioner Board (TPB). Where recognition of prior learning (RPL) is used, it must also meet the requirements of the Board’s policy on RPL.
