The BAS Agent Annual Skills Assessment is derived from our BAS and Payroll Challenge Exam, a program formally approved by the Tax Practitioners Board which complies with the requirements for “an approved course in basic GST/BAS taxation principles”. It’s a challenging skills assessment; there simply is no comparison to this CPE activity!
This assessment is designed specifically for bookkeeping professionals who want to demonstrate competence, determine current competency, identify gaps and update their current knowledge.
You will be assessed through a selection of multiple-choice questions and calculation activities on current topics relevant to a professional practitioner. On completion, you will be presented with a selection of CPE activities appropriate to your learning needs. Any identified skills and knowledge gaps can be filled through CPE activities or formal programs.

The BAS Agent Annual Skills Assessment is a theory and activity-based assessment providing practitioners with an opportunity to demonstrate competence in all things BAS. The assessment presents a cerebral challenge on a range of topics relevant to a professional BAS Agent. Don’t stress; you are provided study opportunities prior to the assessment, it’s open book, and you have two attempts to achieve success.
The assessment is suitable for:
- Practitioners seeking to assess existing skills and knowledge
- Practitioners who wish to tackle a CHALLENGING and compliant CPE activity
- Internal skills and knowledge assessment of current and potential workers
- Individuals who wish to update their skills and knowledge.
Successful candidates will receive a Certificate of Achievement to demonstrate current competence.
Completing this assessment offers 4 hours of CPE which includes time to conduct research, and complete the learning activities and the assessment.
The Skills Assessment aims to assess a set of technical, current and accurate skills which are relevant to a professional BAS practitioner’s work. It also addresses changes to legislation, regulation and the Code.

- Access to a computer and internet connection
- Good language, literacy & numeracy skills.
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is not available for this assessment.

The BAS Agent Annual Skills Assessment incorporates self-paced learning activities and a final assessment which provides an opportunity for you to demonstrate competence in the topics relevant to a registered practitioner. The assessment is completed via our online student portal in accordance with the Assessment Conditions below.
Assessment methods may include any combination of:
- Self-paced activities
- Case Studies
- Multiple choice questions
- Calculation activities.
Assessment Conditions:
- 100 questions (multiple-choice and calculation activities)
- Assessment duration: Two hours
- Students are afforded two attempts only to pass the assessment
- A pass mark of 85% or higher is required to successfully complete this assessment.
What is involved?
- Pre-Assessment Study Activities – A series of activities are provided as an optional learning opportunity to reinforce your skills and knowledge. Each activity is specifically designed to address any evident skills or knowledge gaps. These activities allow you to progress through the material at your own pace, taking as long as you need to master each activity
- Complete the assessment within the allocated time frame
- Answer all multiple-choice questions and complete all calculation activities.
